Fatima
In
July, 1977, Card. Luciani went as a pilgrim to this sanctuary... Then, in
Coimbra, he
would never have imagined what was about to happen to him, using the same words
on the following day of his election as a Pontiff: his meeting with Fatima's
seer, Sister Lucia, would have changed the history of his life. The Lord was
asking him for a last personal sacrifice : the total and absolute resignation of
himself to be given entirely, not only to Him, but also to the world and so to
allow us to live the 33 days of love that the Lord was giving us... Later, his
return, in a hurry, to Fatima, surely to ask the Virgin for help and consolation...
He would have felt the maternal tenderness of That one to whom he had been
entrusted since he was a child. Certainly, the Virgin never abandons her
children ...
